Ïðîäà¸òñÿ Rocktron HUSH the pedal çà 1000ð!

Introduction

"Effects noise reduction isn’t for everyone, but HUSH’s new little noise nuker could be just the ticket if snap, crackle, pop, and hiss from your effects are driving you nuts. Powered by a 9-volt battery or DC power supply, the HUSH Pedal packs a single noise reduction circuit and dual threshold pots in its electric-blue elegant-yet-rugged anodized-aluminum housing. Why two controls? So you can set one with a higher amount of noise reduction for your noisiest vintage effects and tweak the other for less egregious boxes. A cool idea. Two footswitches let you select either threshold and turn the unit on or off."

Operation

"The HUSH’s voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) acts like an electronic volume control to gradually reduce the output level as the input signal diminishes. Also known as ‘downward expansion,’ this automatic volume reduction increases exponentially as the input signal drops, turning down the volume at a rate that stays ahead of the rising noise floor."

The Test

"I tested the HUSH Pedal by feeding it a delightfully cruddy signal from a Strat and an old Park Fuzz feeding an equally old Colorsound Tone Bender. Subduing this annoying racket was simply a matter of activating the device, selecting threshold A or B, and slowly turning the appropriate control clockwise until the noise disappeared.

The HUSH’s circuitry tracks the dacaying of the signal of a sustained note and closes the gate at a rate that won’t adversely affect the decay’s dynamics. This works quite well – it was possible to hold a note until complete fadeout without being unduly aware of the gating action."

Bottom Line

"While the HUSH Pedal will work for all guitar-related noise problems, it’s perfect for aggressive players who ram gobs of fuzz or overdrive into the front end of a loud amp, yet must keep their transistors quiet while the lead singer is busy gathering undies from the front row. Under these conditions, the HUSH will receive enough signal to remain wide open until the last power chord is chopped, and its potent noise-killing abilities will be fully appreciated."
