Hallo!

Could you please tell me the price for Tokai hard puncher made in 70-80 and consult me about this bass's quality and sound.

I would like to buy one here in Moscow.

The appearence and condition of finish doesn't matter.
I only need the electronics and hardware to work well and the bass to sound well.

Thank you.

Fender Jazz Bass 1978

Tokai Hard Puncher is very good bass.
Actually level is as same as old Fedner Japan.
Because Fender Japan is also produced in Tokai
Factory in 80s. Difficult thing is to find out
good condition's one.

If condition is good, price is 600-750usd in
Moscow. Little bit cheaper than 80s Fender Japan
or litle bit cheaper.

Especially to find out old Bass which has strong
neck is very difficult.Even in case of Fender USA.

Weak point of Old bass guitar is neck. When guitar became old, because of the tension of strings, most of the bass guitar's head will decline to the mody side. This is very little distance, but you can know most of the old bass's height of strings in the middle parts of flet is rather high.
In a word, finger board of high position is little bit waking up.

I have many baseguitars included vintage fender, but it is very rare to meet that strings can be set in low height form the 1st flet to the end.

It means it is very difficult to meet with old bass guitar which has strong neck. If in case nect is very strong, neck can keep flat situation for a long time, so you can set strings in low place. If you set strings low place, you can play in comfortable.

Actually, the most important part to judge the situation of bass guitar is this point. Because if you have trouble with electric parts, it can be easily repared. But in case of neck, exchange of neck is very expensive, and it is difficult to find out "just fitting neck for old bass guitars".

Of course, if you don't care for "flat neck", and "low string position", in that case you can take any bass guitars.

Thank you very much/ thi s was very interecting informaion. You seem to be a real professional!

But what shall i do? What shall you advise me buy?

Do your words meen that i should give up looking for old japanese bass?

Im not very good in technic so i play rather simple figures. And having strings 5-6 mm high above the 12-th fret seems ok to me.
But if you say that the strings are high in the middle part of the fret board - thats's the real problem.

Please, give me some advice. Do you have any variants for me here in Moscow? I will be happy to meet you and see what you can sell me.

Thank you.
