Congratulations Harry, on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop guitar (serial number CS 0039)! For the curious, here are the specs on CS 0039: Left Hand “KL explorer”- style, shaped just like an ‘ESP explorer’ set neck guitar (including position of fret board, volume & toggle switch position) Entire guitar will have oil and wax finish.
-24.75 scale with “ESP” neck profile. Width of neck at the nut 1 5/8"
-headstock thickness to be 5/8”, veneer on the headstock should be 1/16” - CARVED-FILLETED headstock (see pics)
-Khaya body with bubinga top and headstock cap, with walnut veneers in between the body/ top & headstock/cap
-set neck, with EXTENDED neck tenon, (to reach the beginning of the bridge pickup) “HOT ROD” truss rod w/hex nut.
-bubinga control cavity cover shaped like KL explorer ones
- special design located at the top of the headstock, done in MOP
-Shamray Custom Shop logo on back of headstock
-Light-colored figured wenge fretboard, 22 frets (‘ESP explorer’ radius ) EBONY truss rod plate
-Black TOM hardware, Black screws and jack plate.
-3 piece laminate neck (mahogany) – with 2 graphite reinforcement rods (one on either side of truss rod)
-Graphite nut – D’addario EXL 115 strings, set to medium to low action (suitable for drop-B tuning)
-sperzel black 3x3 trim-lok tuners (like the ones on esp les pauls)
-EMG 81/60 pickups
-GREEN fibre optic side markers – BLACK mini switch for turning off lights
-black Dunlop straplocks
-CUSTOM FRETBOARD INLAYS done in MOP – design pending, client will provide artwork
-Custom made light-weight flightcase |

Harry, yer email just bounces and bounces, so i will post my last email here (along with a down-sized picture): your neck wood arrived today ( pic) I guess your body wood will be here in another week or two! About top wood: i went to take new photos and found out that "78" and "79" are actually THE SAME PIECE ( just with the paper template the other way around). So i think its safe to say if we use that and flitchmatch it, we will get exactly the effect you are looking for. |

Status report: Dudnik is still out of the country (he went to visit his family for holidays, and paperwork difficulties are preventing him from re-entering Russia!) Currently, Stepanov estimates that he won't be back any sooner than the 20th, so unfortunately your guitar is "In Limbo" till then

Dudnik lives in Moscow, but he's not "from Moscow" (something like me...) Three piece neck is cut from a single board, but in a clever way so that the grain in all three pieces is opposing. This results in a substantially stronger, stiffer, and more stable neck. It also sounds better that equivalent 1-piece necks... |
