It may very well end up a nocaster, that is, 2 pickups. I will dig out some pics for colour reference later on...it will have callaham hardware.

The pickup(s) are supposed to be accurate copies of those found in Roy Buchanan's '53 tele 'Nancy'.

Jon, are you going to use a black or white pickguard?

One other thing -- What does the pickup selector switch do on an Esquire?

Ben:
* Front Position: Mellow sound due to capacitor connected to ground. Tone control inactive in this position.
* Middle Position: Variable tone control adjustment. Only position tone control works. You can have maximum treble or maximum bass. Swells and Wah Wah effect.
* Bridge Position: Full treble in this position and tone control inactive.

IF you decide on the 2-pickup version (rather than the Esquire), please let me know ASAP.

I gave the workorder and Swamp Ash to Maxim today, and he's gonna get going on it very shortly...

It wouldnt hurt to get all the parts out to us pretty quick, as well! :-)

In theory (with crossed fingers and so on..) a 1 pickup esquire should be routed for a neck pickup...the old ones were at least.

thats NOT going to happen (black overlay!) :-)

I will check out our 'old tele reference' and see if i can verify the routing thing (it does seem like Leo's style to just "route 'em all"...)

not so odd - STANDARDIZATION!

Thats why its not uncommon to find a sunburst finish under an old "custom-color" Fender - they just made up heaps of bodies in advance, and refinished as neccessary...

Thats a thought. I may just go for 2 pickups though, I have an esquire arriving this week. Maybe I should have a play with it and see if I like the 1 pickup wiring before any decisions are made...

It had the first sealer coat a week ago and I've only just finalised the finish colour so I doubt it has gone any further since then. All the construction work is done...I think.
