Congratulations Joeri, on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop instrument (serial number CS 1984)! We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread. Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to the first progress. I don't know who my crafter will be, but whoever it is, I'm sure my guitar will turn out great. Stein: I've been in doubt between this guitar and a Stratocaster similar to yours for some blues-type music. I decided to go with this one first. |

Already decided on some minor changes: - no inlays, only side dots - crafters signature on the back of the headstock - straplocks instead of strap buttons My crafter is gonna be Pavel Bashmakov. Michael says they're hoping to get the work underway by the end of the week. |

You have NO idea what kind of a treat you're in for, Joeri! Bashmakov's a genuine strat artist! I KNOW this will be fantastic! Kudos on thinking out of the box with the gold finish, btw. This guitar sounds to me like a Dave Murray meets Dick Dale-kind of thing. It'll be exiting to follow it's progress. |

no pics coming until next week - turns out the latest batch of mettallic powder was INCOMPATIBLE with our lacquer, and the lacquer wouldnt cure properly. I looked at it yesterday, and asked them to do some testing, and the lacquer just started cracking! (not good). So now the guitar has to be stripped down to bare wood, and refinished again from SCRATCH. Shamray is going across town tommorrow, to try and find some of the "old" gold-top powder... |

the locking nut is here. They are setting it up right now, and i am going to the shop to inspect it in a couple of hours. Still no sign of straplocks though! Looks like Shamray may end up mailing them out separately, or we risk delaying shipment for another week or two or three |

That's great news! So does this mean the guitar should be ready to ship out tomorrow? Straplocks is no problem, just send them seperatel, I'll put 'em in as soon as they arrive. |

Yes, your guitar is "CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF". I play-tested it today, and its ALL GOOD. I usually don't enjoy Floyd-equipped guitars all that much, but yours feels unusually comfortable A few final pics will be in your mailbox shortly! |

The guitar arrived last friday. She looks amazing. Unfortunately I've been a little sick lately, so I haven't played a whole lot. But for as far as I can tell, it sounds just absolutely amazing. Don't expect a big review though, I haven't been playing guitar for that long (about 2 years off and on). Pics will be coming up in a couple of days. | |
