Congratulations Tero-Petri on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop instrument (serial number CS 1987)! We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread. For the curious, here are the specs on CS 1987: “SG-STYLE neck-thru with 25.0 inch scale length & PRS-style headstock” Construction Method: Neck-thru, any solid body w/o added top Material for neck: Maple figured "AAA" (maple / walnut / sapele / walnut / maple) Neck features: Laminated 5 pieces, rounded profile, no heel, neck joint @22nd ft Laminate proportions: see CS-0074 for details (walnut stripes at least 5mm wide) Material for fretboard: Ebony, 305 mm radius Frets: Sintoms "6100" (medium tall, AKA "Jumbo") 24 FRETS Nut: Siberian wooley mammoth ivory Fret markers: MOP split diamonds ( like SG Supreme) Fretboard binding: fretboard only (single layer WHITE) Truss rod cover: LP-style ("bell") Side markers: black plastic dots Logo: Text logo - inlaid MOP-details to follow (SCS logo on back) Body wood: Sapele (heavy) Neck profile: rounded shape, thickness 20mm @1st, 22mm@12th Finish: NATURAL transparent gloss lacquer overall Headstock Overlay: Matching body color – also bursted (to match body) Tone Chambers: no tone chambers (solidbody) Scale Length: 25.00 inches Strings: Ernie Ball 11s (standard tuning) Machine heads: Schaller (locking) chrome String-tree: No string trees Bridge: Gotoh t-o-m tailpiece chrome, (for use with GHOST TOM) Strap buttons: straplocks (2 pieces) Chrome Schaller Pickguard: No pickguard Neck pickup: EMG 60A (alnico) Bridge pickup: EMG 89 Pickup Bezels: BLACK Plastic bezel 2 pcs Toggle switch: DiMarzio 3-pos. One of these days we will have a database linking crafters to all the guitars they have built, but thats still way in the future! looks amazing ... i can only imagine how it will sound...imo neck-through construction is a very good improvement of gibson models....with this headstock it will be more perfect due to straight-string-pull, not to mention that it will look more original (better )... congrats on it, dude |

Thanks for your kind words, Goran... I'm 110% sure that it will sound better than I could ever imagine in my wildest dreams I chose the PRS-headstock just to get that "almost" straight string pull. Yeah, that's just the PRS headstock. The (almost) straight string pull makes a ton of difference... It was either the SG or a KL-EXP. I decided to get the SG, but I'm REALLY digging your ALPHAXE dude!!!

I agree with Q, the wood definatly is very beautiful. I never was a huge fan of SG's, but this one is just stunningly beautiful with all the flamed and rich coloured wood. Who knows, maybe SG's have another shot with me now that I have seen one as beautiful as this! | |

According to the credit card records, the backordered Ghost T-O-M bridge shipped out (by itself) only 2 days after they had shipped the rest of the shipment (which arrived here last week) So i am expecting it to show up "any day now" .. been checking at the post office every day. Tommorrow, maybe??? As soon as the bridge DOES show up, we are looking at about 2-3 days for the completing work, and then another couple of days for inspections and play-testing... |

At last - your GHOST bridge is HERE! Actually, because it was back-ordered, Graphtech were kind enough to send it "EMS Global Priority mail", and it actually arrived in Moscow a WEEK ago! Unfortunately, its been sitting in customs for the past seven days and they only notified me today! I had to gather up a whole stack of paperwork, go across town and stand in line for a couple of hours to get it out. Long day! I'll be bringing it to the shop first thing in the morning, and completing work can finally proceed

I've been too busy in my reserve under officer school becoming a corporal or if I'm good enough getting to reserve officer school to become a reserves second lieutetant that I haven't had much time to check the progress... Come on Shamray, what's taking it so long??? It's been two months since there was any progress... And it was actually built to the state it is now in only two months! You've even had my GHOST bridge for a month now, so that can't be the thing that holding it back now... I'd really want to know what's taking it so long!!! |

If they got the pearl inlay done yesterday, then it should be ready for artwork (logo painting) now. Depending on Anya's availability (i'm not sure if she works weekends!) completing could start as early as wednesday or thursday (after the last clearcoat dries over the artwork...) BTW, i found out that most of this (3 week) delay was due to trouble finding a large enough pearl shell for the oval. Generally we dont make inlays larger than 2 inches (the maximum width of a typical fretboard) and pearl shells being CURVED, its difficult to find one that will yield a larger flat piece... |

I'm sure that it's going to have SO much pure harmonics... The bassy EMGs, the bright and clear woods are going to make this guitar sound wicked, and then there's the GHOST bridge to get the supreme acoustic sound, especially because of the superior overall construction. It's going to make this guitar last longer than me... BTW, I got to reserve officers school... 15 weeks from now I'm going to be an officer cadett(an officer student in a week) and then on the 6th of july I'm going to be a bonafine reserves second lieutenant(highest military grade you can become without going to the military university, and just in the normal military service)... |

The piezo sounds especially 'acoustic', and i would say both the EMGs AND the piezo are very bright! No lack of 'fullness" in either mode, its a very well-balanced tone no matter how you play it. The only 'thin' sound you will get is when you pull up the pullpot that puts the 89 in single mode (used by itself, you can get a very strat-like tone). Btw, the piezo gets extra fatness when you use its "push-pot' to activate the midrange boost) Guitars dont get much more versatile than this one!

Unfortunately, there is nothing that I can do about Shamray's bad behavior! He OWNS the company, I'm only a poorly-paid consultant (whose good management advice is routinely ignored!) On December 6th, Shamray confirmed that THIS would be his shipping schedule: CS-0511 Thursday Dec 7th CS-0100 Sunday Dec 10th CS-1987 Thursday Dec 14th CS-1952 Sunday Dec 17th CS-3001 Thursday Dec 21st His exact words to me: "We shall follow this dates." For WHATEVER reasons, he chose to SKIP shipping CS-0511 altogether, then shipped CS-0100 a day early. Then he didnt ship ANYTHING on December 14th (at the very least, 0511 should have gone out!) and so far he has not shipped anything TODAY either (its 2 PM). So he has now put himself THREE guitars behind schedule. I'm not happy with the situation AT ALL.. I have told him many many many many many many times that delays in shipping are "COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE"!

Well this is pretty much the only thing that I was really afraid of when I chose to order my guitar... I really appreciate all the troubles you've been thru, Michael, and I'd just like say thank you for it... And dear Mr. Shamray, get a grip on things... |

That's a plenty generous offer Jon, but I think that it's best if CS-0511 ships first and mine when it's time for it to ship... Which was supposed to be the 14th... But I can't help it if Shamray doesn't understand what's good for business! |

That's excellent news! What kind of a shipment is it BTW, EMS or what? And did CS-0511 ship already(it was in line before mine, and I don't think it's cool to ship mine before the one that's in line, although it's REALLY nice that mine shipped already.)? Only sad thing: The first time I'll get to play her is on the weekend AFTER new year's eve(next time I get on leave after Boxing Day)... |

yes, its an EMS shipment (check your email for the tracking number!) Shamray sent me a tracking number for 0511 as well, so it must have shipped either today or possibly yesterday (i havent seen the waybills so i'm not sure...) |

Oh shite, it's stuck at customs right now... I'm in the army so I can't go get it since I'm on leave only on weekends when the customs office is closed... Luckily my GF can get it with a power of attorney, which I'll give to her tomorrow when she comes to my course ball. And I have to pay 60$ of customs and value added tax. Luckily they counted it from the receipt that was on the package... Whew... If it would have been counted from the real ammount that I payed I would have had to pay 600$!!! So the time of me playing my precious is upon us soon!!! |

Hmm.... probably you should have asked us to ship it to your girlfriend DIRECTLY - then it would likely have bypassed customs altogether (they only ever seem to end up at customs if they werent deliverable on the first try) | |

I'm not that sure that it'd have bypassed customs even then... The first indication that the guitar had arrived was the paccage arrival card from the post office that it was at the customs office now... Still, I really don't mind paying lowsy 60$ to get her now... Partially because in the worst case scenario I would have had to pay 600$... Thanks to all the folks at Shamray, especially to you M. You've been great! |

She's PERFECT!!! Played beautifully straight out of the box. I couldn't be more pleased with her... Sustains for days, is great for bending, no string buzz even on alternate tunings... The action could be set to a minimum on her (although that's not how I prefer it). I simply couldn't be more pleased... Such a full sound on both pickups in every mode... And the piezo really does sound really acoustic... To everyone involved in the building of this guitar: Thank you so much, everyone... |
