Congratulations Jordan on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop guitar (serial number CS 0001)! We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread. For the curious, here are the specs on CS 0001: Gibson Les Paul "class 5" dimensions - finish color on Body Top, Body Back, Side Of Body, Back of Neck & Headstock to be blue transparent finish.Body & neck: mahogany. Neck to have “1960 slim taper” profile. Long neck tenon.Top wood: AAA maple top Fretboard: rosewood with perloid trapezoid inlays Binding: cream binding- single layer on fretboard and headstock, single -layer on front of body. Hardware: chrome gotoh tune-o-matic bridge & tailpiece, chrome gotoh ‘vintage Kluson tulip’ machine heads. Chrome strap buttons. Cream plastic pickup rings, cream rectangular jackplate, cream toggle washer, black plastic control cavity covers, and no "LP" pickguard. Electronics: usual LP standard wiring; toggle switch, 2 volume, 2 tone. Partsland large pots, Dimarzio toggle, Partsland jack, 100% cavity shielding Knobs: 4 "gibson hat knobs" (plastic, gold color) Pickups : Chernichev custom wound replica “burstbuckers”, chrome covers.Case: molded plastic flight case, "Stagg" LP contoured style. Strings: D’Addario roundwound .010 - .046 Notes: headstock "Shamray" logo will be in Gibson-style script, with “Custom Shop” in small script |

And here are todays pics: the body is now cut and routed a bit, also we chose the neck wood, and what very likely will be the top wood, too. Latest developments: Choice of top wood was finalized... top joined, roughed out, and joined to body. Neck laminations are roughed out - if you look closely, you can see how the grain in each piece runs in opposing directions (for added strngth, stiffness, and stability). Second pic is a view of the top later in the evening, after the edges were smoothed a bit. The picture doesn't nearly do this wood justice - it is MAGNIFICENT!  |
