He is at Ismailova park (much nicer than Gorky, whihc is just a little thing) Yes those are older pics, the guitar has creme bezels now (and STRINGS, too!) Ok, went to have a look at the guitar yesterday, and it looks even more beautiful than I imagined. And the best guitar I ever played. Of course, this was just a small taste, as there were so many people around hearing... the tunes were nice, and Sushkov gave me a demo too, of how it plays when in the hands of someone who actually knows how to play. Can`t wait till I get this guitar home on Saturday |

sounds like Moscow and the shamray shop are great places, nice to know your having a good time my GAS is getting worse by the day and now i have another opinion on it i really cant wait to get my hands on it and have a play..... enjoy your orphan!!! |

It's home, alright! Went through the airports and customs like a charm (although it _was_ a hell at the Moscow airport, but just because of the endless queues and us picking the wrong queues at some stages). Now I had to try it tonight as well, and there are so many things, tonal nuances and things that shine through in the sounds of this guitar than the others I have tested. Had to stop because of those damned neighbours, but will continue exploring tomorrow! Cheers! | |

Oh, we dropped the pull pots and just went for the 5-way 4-pole megasuperduperswitch, which gives me bridge/neck, bridge, neck, out-of-phase and split parallell or something (funky). I like the simplicity and versatility of this setup. Good luck with your project, Göran

Setup is a tricky thing specialy since the guitar is moving to another enviroment setup can change because of that. ( working of the wood ). I never had to do a thing to my stock fenders and esps but with cs0045 i had to raise the bridge some and adjust the trusrod for a couple times before the guitar set in. It is now perfect though. Cs1973 also got some changes in set up once it got here and is now my favorite guitar of all time. What i learned is that with handbuild instruments it takes some adjusting till all has settled in but once it does its really great. Having said that the ding you found shouldnt have happend and the screws on that cover i feel the same about same goes for the nut job. I think its really a pitty someone else but the actual crafter is responsible for installing pickups bridges and such seems like he has made some booboos here and there... which is a shame. That problem has been recognised and quality control has been tightend i been assured. But that dont help you much which is a shame. Good thing in end is to hear the sound of the guitar is good ! Set up can be changed sound cant lol. But i agree some of the things you put in review shouldnt have happend. |

The final setup and details seem to be the Shamray weak-point It really is frustrating, and a shame -- all it takes is a little extra time and attention to detail to correct this recurring problem. These custom hand-made guitars deserve that extra TLC to elevate them to their potential, not to mention to inspire customer confidence and satisfaction. Please, Shamray, your guitars deserve it! |

Patrick: Yep, I'm aware that guitars will have to be adjusted, and especially handbuilt ones. Therefore I was prepared to adjust action, trussrod and re-intonate, and I have done so now, making it nearly perfect setup-wise. Fortunately the nut isn't a big problem so far, but if I start using the trem more often I'll have to get one of the slots filed a bit wider. And lennart, even if the finishing/setup process seems imperfect (mediocre) here, rest assured that this is not a mediocre instrument! These imperfections of the guitar are not really an everyday concern for me now - I have even made a couple of dings on my own since I got it - but it is the superb craftmanship of the guitar as a whole (wood/finish etc) that make those last issues, which could have been avoided with less than an hour of work, such a shame. I think we all agree on that point. I still would get myself a second (and third!) Shamray. (Just to put things in perspective.) |
